Relationship between perception of career progression and organizational commitment of employees at provincial electricity authority area 1 (South) and network operation department area 1 (region 4) Phetchaburi province
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was 1) to investigate the demographic and organizational
commitment, 2) to investigate the perception of career progression levels of employees, 3) to
investigate the organizational commitment levels of employees and 4) to investigate the relationship
between perception of career progression and the organizational commitment of employees.
The sample size consisted of 192 employees at the Provincial Electricity Authority Area1
(South) and Network Operation Department Area 1 (Region 4) Phetchaburi Province. Research
instruments consisted of demographic questionnaires, perception of career progression questionnaires
and organizational commitment questionnaires. The statistics used in this research are as follows:
frequency, mean, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Fishers Least-Significant
and Pearsons Product Moment Correlation Coefficients.
The Results of this research were as follows:
1. The demographic, there was a significant amount of variation in age and experience. As a
result had different levels of organizational commitment at 0.01, there was a significant different of
education level and position had different organizational commitment with a level of 0.05, however
sex and salary does not have an affect on organizational commitment with a level of 0.05.
2. Employees have a perception of career progression at the middle levels.
3. Employees have an organizational commitment at the high levels.
4. There was a significant positive correlation between the perception of career progression and
the organizational commitment with a level of 0.01.
The organization can take the results of this research to develop and improve Employees
perception of career progression to improve happiness at work, effectiveness, work morale and job
satisfaction that brings improved organizational commitment.
