A fixed-time control of CNC machining centers spindles for mitigating backlash in gear transmission system
Abstract:
The research presents the application of a fixed-time position controller (FxTSMC) for the spindles of CNC machines, utilizing a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) as the torque source. Initially, mathematical models are developed based on the interaction between two rigid gears driven by the PMSM. Incorporating Newtons second law, backlash is included in the model. Subsequently, a control strategy employing a sliding surface aligned with fixed-time control theory is formulated. In addition, the stability of this nonlinear position control system is evaluated through the application of the established Lyapunov method. To ensure that tracking errors remain within a limited residual region, the backlash model is incorporated into this analysis. The proposed algorithm mitigates overall disturbances, no steady state error and minimize chattering concurrently. Eventually, numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the efficiency of strategy.
