Abstract:
Granular fertilizing is an important step and requires that the fertilizer be distributed as evenly and evenly as possible. In this research, the Discrete Element Method was used to help predict the shape of particle distribution by paying attention to the influence of the shape of the discs, velocity of air, wall, particle release point, and rotational speed. which divides the simulation into 2 parts. The first part uses Rocky software to perform simulations with air resistance and velocity of air of 1, 2 and 3 meters per second at rotational speeds of 300, 400 and 500 rpm. The second part uses LIGGGHTS software to perform simulations at rotational speeds. 120, 150, 180, 210 and 240 rpm. It was found that when dispersing particles without walls, the direction of particle dispersion cannot be controlled. When adjusting the release angle of the particles without walls, it appears that the particles will have a pattern of dispersing. It can be divided into 4 periods, and the period in which the particles spread in the direction of 270 degrees is the particle release angle range of 90-180 degrees. When the particles were distributed against the air velocity, it was found that the particle movement speed decreased by an average of 0.24 meters per second for every 1 meter per second increase in air velocity. The shape of the curved disc spreads better than the straight disc because it has a centrifugal force that provides more centrifugal force than the straight disc. This effect that most affects the distribution of particles is the rotational speed. From the simulation results, it is found that when the rotational speed increases, the distance that the particles can travel tends to go further, which in this research, a maximum 500 rpm was simulated, and the disc that can disperse particles far and wide in this study is a 4-concave blade on a concave surface with 180-degree hemispherical wall at 500 rpm
