Abstract:
For measuring the standard resistors in the intermediate range of 1 Ω to 10 kΩ using the commercial Direct Current Comparator (DCC) bridges model 6010C and 6020Q, the scaling error of the DCC bridges should be investigated. This work proposes the verification by using the known values of the standard resistors with the resistance ratios of 1:1 and 10:1, which have very high stability in the controlled environment of temperature within (23.00 ± 0.05) °C during measurement. The scaling error can be estimated from the difference between the calculated resistance ratio and the measured resistance ratio. Comparison results of 6010C and 6020Q show the consistency of the resistance measurement ratios. Both DCC bridges give compatible results with their manufacturers specification in 0.05 μΩ/Ω and 0.015 μΩ/Ω for model 6010C and 6020Q, respectively. With the proposed validation method, the scaling error of the DCC bridge is at a level of 10⁻⁸ Ω/Ω.
