Abstract:
This article presents the service life analysis of a surge protection device that uses a Raspberry Pi to manage data for equipment in an intelligent ground monitoring system. The system analyzes and validates the service life of surge protection devices (SPDs) based on the number of lightning strikes and the magnitude of current flowing through them.
The system uses RS485 data transmission to store information in a cloud database and uses SCADA software to display the status of the equipment in the system. The system also uses AC Class II SPDs for AC power and DC Class II SPDs for DC power to estimate the service life of SPDs, enabling planning for operation, maintenance, and enhancement of lightning protection performance and reliability.
The article presents an evaluation of the service life of an SPD by analyzing the relationship between the number of strikes and the magnitude of current flowing through it, and compares the results with data obtained from SPD testing according to the IEC 61643-11 standard
