Abstract:
In the current era of big data, enormous data is being recorded every second from multiple streams and environments of different types. This highly generated data is processed with the support of specialized tools such as Hadoop, which ensures data processing by considering memory, process allocation, size, and storage. The Hadoop framework is known to be efficient with a few large files rather than many small files, which cause several issues for efficient operation and significantly increase processing time. To eliminate this issue, this work proposes a new algorithm for merging many small files into a single large file based on certain matching criteria (type and size). This process is executed before the files are passed to the Hadoop framework. The proposed algorithm ensures that it generates the least number of large files, reducing I/O memory load and improving the efficiency of the Hadoop framework. The results prove that the proposed algorithm increases efficiency and reduces the processing time of the Hadoop framework by approximately 40% across various performance factors
