The Study of English Language Use on Thai - Cambodia Cross Border Trade Context after entering ASEAN Economic Community: Case Study on Three Eastern Permanent border Check Points of Sakaeo, Chanthaburi and Trat Provinces.
Abstract:
This research aimed to: 1) study trends and economic value of English language use in the context of Thailand - Cambodia cross-border trade after entering ASEAN Economic Community, and; 2) provide concepts and directions of English language use in the context of Thailand - Cambodia cross-border trade after entering the ASEAN Economic Community. The samples of this research were 300 purchasers and vendors on 3 eastern permanent border checkpoints (Sakaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat) by accidental sampling. Questionnaires were used to collect data about English language use in Thailand - Cambodia cross-border trade and trends of English language use in cross-border trade after entering the ASEAN Economic Community. Data analysis was based on descriptive statistics: Average, Percentage, and Standard Deviation. Inferential statistics: t-test in correlation analysis, F-test in regression, and prediction of confidence range of required significance and ratio were also utilized.
The results revealed that the dispersion scores of samples, providing information on English language use on Thailand - Cambodia cross border trade from the questionnaires, were 1.6-2.1 and 2.0-2.6 for information about trends of English language use in a cross-border trade context after entering the ASEAN Economic Community, respectively. Trend of English language use in the context of Thailand - Combodia cross-border trade after entering ASEAN Economic Community was low. A mathematical model was applied to forecast Gross Provincial Product per Capita among people who speak English in Sakaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces at 344 THB which predict English usage to increase to 2027
