Abstract:
The study purpose of this quasi-experimental research was to study the effects of narrative group counseling on self-esteem among persons with physical disabilities. The sample used in this were 12 persons with physical disabilities each of which containing 6 persons with physical disabilities. Then, one group was randomly assigned as the experimental group to receive narrative group counseling; the other, the control group did not receive any counseling. Research instruments included 1) Narrative group counseling was developed from the "Train of Life" program's Chow (2015) about 90 minutes per week for 7 weeks 2) Thai version of revised the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). The data collection was done in three phases; pre-test, post-test, and follow-up. And the data was analysed with statistical software packages, by using The Wilcoxon Matched Pairs Signed-Ranks and The Man-Whitney U Test. The study results there were statistical differences in the total self-esteem of the experimental group after narrative group counseling and the follow up phase at the 0.05 level, and there were statistical significant differences in the total self-esteem of the experimental group and the control group after narrative group counseling and the follow up phase at the 0.05 level. The result of this study revealed that the narrative group counseling had a positive effect on self-esteem of persons with physical disabilities
