Abstract:
The aims of this research were: 1) to composed a Bhāvanā music program for stress reduction in prisoners, 2) to present The effects of Bhāvanā music program for stress reduction of the prisoners in the Nakhon Si Thammarat central prison. A Quasi-experimental Pretest-Posttest Design research was conducted whereby 24 participants were taken part in. They were divided randomly and equally into 2 groups: an experimental subject group and a control group. The participants were the prisoners in the main prison of Nakhon Si Thammarat whose age between 21-30 years old. All were sentenced to 10 years or longer in jail. Upon a completion of the survey, it showed that prisoners with high stress level voluntarily took part in this programme with the consent of the prison warden in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The programme was conducted in the year 2020. It took 3 days until completion, or a total of 13 hours and 30 minutes. After the programme was finished, the experimental subjects were asked to complete a survey and to take part in an in-depth interview before the research was analyzed and concluded.
The result was that the prisoners who took part in Bhāvanā music program for stress reduction in prisoners were reduced in their level of stress in average at statistically significant level .01. Showed that a Bhāvanā music program for stress reduction in prisoners can effectively reduce the stress of prisoners. This research can present The effects of Bhāvanā music program for stress reduction of the prisoners in the Nakhon Si Thammarat central prison.
