Abstract:
The objectives of this research are: 1. To study the needs and necessity of academic administration of multicultural schools, 2. To study the methods of academic administration of multicultural schools according to the principles of Kalyanamitta of educational institution administrators, and 3. To propose guidelines for development of academic administration of multicultural schools according to the principles of Kalyanamitta for school administrators under the Office of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Primary Educational Service Area 1. It is a combined method research. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaires from 95 administrators and teachers and analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and PNIModified. The qualitative data were collected by semi-structured in-depth interviews with 5 key-informants and then analyzed by content analysis.
The research results found that:
1. The need of academic administration of multti-cultural schools was at a high level overall. The descending order started from teaching and learning, followed by academic planning, curriculum development and measurement and evaluation respectively.
2. The methods of academic administration of multti-cultural schools of school administrators according to the principles of Kalyanamitta are as follows: 2.1) Curriculum development; the curriculum of educational institutions must be integrated with diversity of race, religion, and tradition in all dimensions in a generous, friendly, admirable and encouraging manner (Bhavaniyo), 2.2) Academic planning; School academic work must be developed in all dimensions with multiculturalism and principles of good conduct and listening to suggestions and criticism with patience (Vajakkhamo), 2.3) In teaching and learning management; a variety of teaching techniques must be used and the course contents must be integrated with multiculturalism and the principles of goodwill, good advice, good behaving and respectfulness should be provided to students (no catthane niyojaye.), and 2.4) measurement and evaluation; Executives must understand the measurement and evaluation process, know how to explain the measurement and evaluation process for others to understand (vattā ca) and to explain complex matters for a deeper understanding (Gambhirāñca kathaṃ kattā).
3. The guidelines for development of academic administration of multti-cultural schools according to the principles of Kalyanamitta for school administrators under the Office of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Primary Educational Service Area 1 in all 4 areas are: Curriculum development; The curriculum must be designed in line with multicultural social contexts, appropriately implemented, evaluated and improved regularly. In academic planning; policy and plan in academic development, action plan, and operation goal must be set. In teaching and learning management; to create and set up understanding in principles and methods of multicultural education management, student-center learning plan, and relevance of differences in community to create equality and similarity in learning. In Measurement and evaluation; setting the regulations of measurement and evaluation, and academic results transfer in accordance with the context of a multicultural society based on the CPPA Model of knowledge.
