Abstract: Understanding the ecosystem services provided by urban green spaces, in terms of their environmental, economic, and social benefits, is essential for a better management of area. Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park (CU 100 park) was established to mitigate the effects of climate change, especially flood prevention. This study focused on quantifying and valuing the ecosystem services in terms of monetary benefit. Total benefit provided by CU 100 park was USD303,925.18 per year. The highest contribution of monetary value in this study was culturing services of USD142,196.97 which assessing the willingness to pay (WTP) by the patrons for maintaining the park which was assess through the contingent valuation method (CVM). Followed by, provisioning services (USD84,531.26) which quantified in terms of monetary value by timber price. Supporting services (USD60,354.12) are important services to maintain ecosystems by providing habitats for organisms and genetic diversity and monetary value of supporting services for bird habitat in urban park was evaluated based on the price for nursing each bird species and market value. Regulating services (USD16,842.83) which quantified in terms of monetary value the benefits from trees using i-Tree Eco international software included avoided runoff, carbon storage, carbon sequestration, pollution removal, and also classifying plants at species level that can mitigate air pollution, provide cooling effect, and simultaneously survive and thrive in urban environments. Increasing in green space in limitation of urban landscape, the small urban parks should be planned with diverse microhabitats to provide various ecological functions (trees, lawn, grassland, and wetland areas) to attract and ensure adequate resource for organisms as well as facilitate communities’ people related to physical activities (exercise equipment), recreation (bird gazing, sitting by the pond and/ or fish feeding), and social interactions (running events, concerts and/ or animal shows). These results can be useful for future design when planning the composition of trees to be planted in such climates while selecting suitable species that can provide multiple ecosystem services ranging from air pollution mitigation to temperature reduction without reducing plant vitality and maximize ecosystem services to either animal or human well-being. This research can also help policy maker to better understanding on ecosystem services valuation for further outline and manage on green area master plan of the country.
