Abstract: Direct numerical simulation is used to investigate flow pass an inclined fat plate hinged with a trailing-edge flap in a compressible fluid. The angle of tack of the plate is fixed at 20°, while the angle of the trailing-edge flap is varied between -45° < α < 45°. The chord Reynolds number is 1000 and the free-stream Mach number is set at 0.3. The results show that, different patterns of the trailing-edge flap produce different dynamics of the unsteady vortex shedding and sound noise, which results in the modification of the aerodynamics forces.
