Abstract: This study explores an old Abhidhamma text known as Saccasankhepa (Sacc), which is one of the nine "Little-Finger" manuals. The Burmese text transmission was studied and translated with commentary. The Sacc is a Theravada Buddhist Abhidhamma text in the Pali language which interprets the Abhidhamma concepts through the five aggregates. It virtually covers the entire concept of Abhidhamma despite its much smaller size. This study consists of two main parts: the introductory study of the text and the annotated translation. The introductory study is divided into various topics, namely Abhidhamma literature, an overview of the Little-Finger Manuals, the authorship of the Sacc, its dates, content of the text and the Burmese nissaya literature. The annotated translation part is divided into two main sections, the first of which discusses the primary source for this work: the original manuscripts and printed versions of the text from Myanmar, Thailand and Sri Lanka. The researcher then moved to general observations about methodology and the different versions of the Pali text. The second section contains the translation and critical notes. This translation is based upon the two Burmese nissaya, word-by-word translations and their interpretations. The final critical notes provided extended explanations with considerable detail when necessary. The whole thesis established a distinctive new contribution to the field of Buddhist textual studies that exist apart from Abhidhamma Studies.
