Abstract:
Immigrant women factory workers women have poor knowledge and attitude, and reproductive health misbehavior. The objective of the study was to study factors associated with knowledge, attitude and reproductive health behavior of Thai and immigrant women factory workers. Analytic study included 107 Thai women workers and 107 immigrant women workers. Data was collected from June 4, 2018 to January 31, 2019 by questionnaires which included personal characteristics, knowledge, attitude and behavior related to reproductive health. Data was analyzed using Descriptive statistics, Chi-square test and stepwise logistic regression analysis. The results showed that personal characteristics of immigrant women workers were different from Thai women workers. Most of Thai women workers were older, married and better educated, and had better economic statuses, and they had to pay for medical expenses on their own. The knowledge and attitude toward reproductive health of Thai women workers were significantly better than those of immigrant women workers (p < 0.05). However, the general reproductive health behavior of Thai and immigrant women workers were not significant different. However, pregnancy related reproductive health behavior of immigrant women workers were better than Thai women, especially in terms of exclusive breastfeeding. By stepwise logistic regression analysis, knowledge of reproductive health was associated with nationality and income. Attitude toward reproductive health was associated with nationality, marital status, income, education and types of health insurance. General reproductive health behavior was significantly associated with marital status and education. Only residency was significantly associated with pregnancy related reproductive health behavior. In conclusion, specific program should be set up to improve knowledge and attitude of immigrant women factory workers.
