A text mining model in master's degree research for study length prediction : a case study on it management program
Abstract:
Nowadays, in our everyday life, many technologies are occurring all the time, and technologies that have been already created seem to be more advanced. For this reason, we all need a skillful specialist who could manage certain technologies. Information Technology Management (Special program) Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University is intently committed to developing qualified graduates full of knowledge and ability to handle current information technology. An information technology management course is an important part to create high-quality personnel concentrating on student's research and theses which are a large quantity of collected data. These data have not been used to increase the efficiency of the information management course as expected; therefore, this study gathered several data of the thesis abstracts from graduated students and analyzed them with the person's study length to predict the relation of these two factors. Gradient boosted trees model was used to optimize abstract data and study length of graduated students and received tested data for using in deploy model. A new model to predict the study length was created by applying the tested data and abstracts. The results can predict students length of study with discrepancy of 1.315 years.
