Abstract:
this cross-sectional analyticstudy was to reveal the factors that related LPG hazardous risk among the households in Saensuk municipality Muang district Chonburi province. LPG hazardous risk was asessed from 1) LPGequipment condition and installation and 2) LPG using behavior. The samoles were hoursekeepers whom were selected by two stages random sampling. First study population were separated into 15 villages, then sample households were selected by purposive sampling with proportional to size. There were total 372 sample households in this study. The data was collected during April and May 1997 by interviewing and inspection of LPG equipment condition and installation following the improved instrument of Chanpong and colleagues. The results of this study showed households had low LPG hazardous risk both from equipment condition and installation and using behavior. Moreover, it was dound that the households with less level of knowledge about LPG equipment condition and installation, and the households that use LPG for cooking less than 15 minutes in each time had higherhazardous risk. The more frequently improper LPG using were ignition step both for manual and automatic LPG stove, and inspection of LPG leakage. About improper LPG equipment condition and installation, it was found that LPG cylinder was standed less than 1 meter far from stove especially which was beneath the stove or was hired in the cabinet. Last yearperiod there was only one household had accident of the flame rising to housekeeper's hand. Because of the continuously ignition many times but fire was still not set on. Therefore, when fire was set on it produced big flame. From this study, although I found low LPG hazardous risk but the households should be careful about LPG using for zero accident. The housekeepers should therefore have sufficient knowledge about proper LPG equiment condition and installation and how to use and how to inspect the leakage of LPG. Moreover, authorities from LPG store were also important to houshold safety, because they could take care about safety of their clients.
