Abstract:
The research investigated the students French horn learning outcomes and the satisfaction
by using Gagne's teaching method. The participants in this research were the members of school
marching band of a secondary school in Nonthaburi province including four students, two men and
two women. The research instruments included 8 lesson plans, pre-test and post-test, and satisfaction
questionnaire. Each of eight lesson plans on major scale was designed for 75-minute lesson, ten
hours in total. In each lesson, the students took pre-test and post-test on their learning progression
and responded to the questionnaire on the satisfaction towards the lessons. The data were analyzed
using Microsoft Excel and nonparametric statistic analysis method called Wilcoxon Signed Rank
Test. The results showed that the participants' learning outcome after the intervention ( x = 47.25)
was higher than the one before it ( x = 17.50), with a level of significance of .68. The participants
commented that they were able to apply what they learned into practice and into other parts of their
life, felt comfortable in class, and the instructor gave feedback politely. To conclude, the participants
were satisfied with Gagne's teaching method ( x = 4.47 and S.D. = 0.45), and this should be
recommended for other music classes.
