Abstract:
This research is of 3 objectives: 1) to study the way of life according to the Buddhist principles of the marginal communities in Chiang Mai, 2) to study the process of inheriting the Buddhist wisdom of the marginal communities in Chiang Mai, 3) to analyze the identity and the performance of the marginal communities in Chiang Mai. This research is a qualitative research. The findings are that:
They have no any properly care and services or protection from the state as others having got. It is a simple way of life that lives together as a large family.
They keep their own a unique identity and being generosity. The process of inheriting the Buddhist wisdom, the marginal communities live a life bound to Buddhism. They pay respect to nature, inherit the culture, traditions and rituals. They are conscious of oneself and society such as going to the temple, making merit, having service minded, obeying to the taboos, norms, rules, regulations, traditions, and cultures of the place
where they live. The identity and the performance of the marginal communities are that: There is a self-training, in the physical, verbal and mental aspect for completely life development. The various levels of life development are based on the Threefold of Training namely morality, concentration and wisdom. This life development has done by learning and inheriting Buddhist wisdom of marginal communities covering
all 3 levels which are: on a personal level, a family level and a social level. They, as members of the society, have performed the best in their duties avoiding of acting as a burden to the community.
