Abstract:
The study consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate self-management of moral community in Tha Khanun Subdistrict, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province; 2) to explore the participation in mobilizing the development of moral community with Bowon power based on sufficiency economy philosophy in Tha Khanun Subdistrict, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province; and 3) to strengthen the moral community network for sustainable community with the right occupation of Tha Khanun Subdistrict, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province. The study used a mixed-method approach to data collection, with quantitative data obtained by questionnaire and qualitative data acquired via in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. The collected data were presented in a descriptive method.
From the study, the following results are found:
1) From investigating the self-management of moral community in Tha Khanun Subdistrict, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province, it is found that people in the community take part in development and problem-solving, which leads to the formation of a committee for the moral community to discuss, analyze problems and the operation. People adhere to the principle of sacrifice in work in accordance with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's proclamation "to make sacrifice of the minority for the greater good," as well as the principle of participation of Bowon (village, school, temple) power.
2) From exploring the participation in mobilizing the development of moral community with Bowon power based on sufficiency economy philosophy in Tha Khanun Subdistrict, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province, it is discovered that the mobilization is based on the principle of 'understanding, accessing, and developing,' which is at the heart of development. The community mobilizes around religion, morals, occupation, art, and culture.
3) The strengthening of moral community network for sustainable community with the right occupation through Bowon power includes the career development of people in the community, getting together to do homestay to accommodate tourists, forming the community enterprise group for people in the community to collaboratively manage, jointly developing of tourist attractions, as well as the training of morality and meditation practice. The preservation of art and culture, as well as the inheritance of community ways, are utilized to build a right occupation and generate income, with the participation of organizations, communities, temples, schools, private and governmental sectors. As a result, the enhancement of moral community network contributes to the strengthening of right occupation in the area.
The self-management of a moral community based on the participation of 'Bowon' power, in which many sectors collaborate to mobilize development based on the sufficiency economy philosophy. This includes the 'understanding, accessing, and developing' principle, which is at the heart of development for a sustainable community with right occupation. People in the community mobilize around religion, morals, and occupation in order to earn income, increase occupation, and preserve art and culture of the community.
