Abstract:
The research report of "Learning process and cultural refinement in the ancient
texts of Lampang to educational institutions in Lampang Province" aims to; 1) study the
learning process according to the doctrines appeared in the ancient texts of Lampang, 2)
study the process of cultural refinement appeared in the ancient texts of Lampang, 3)
promote the learning process and cultural refinement in Lampang's ancient texts of
educational institutions. This research is an action research used the qualitative and
quantitative method together for greater perfection.
The research results established that cultural refinement process according to
the doctrine in the ancient texts of Lampang was determined by 3 books; Wat Laihin's
Scripture and Wat Ban Look's scripture. These are the practice principles for cultural
refinement arrived in the Pamadhadhamma, Sam pong Samkiew, and the Ordinary story
teaches the world. The essence of each content is connected to the Buddhism principles
and collected as a set of knowledge to promote the learning and cultural refinement in
Lampang's ancient texs of Lampang educational institutions through activities such as
praying, practicing meditation, listening to lectures, asking-answering the three Dharma
issues, and summarizing ideas by participants.
From promoting learning and cultural adjustment, most respondents are male,
followed by women. Most of them are students with junior high school level, followed by
students with high school level. There are three Learning areas of evaluation (before
learning); the overall mental aspect value was low level at (x) 2.42, an overall average of
intelligence was low level at (X) 2.41, and an average of behavior was low level at (x) 2.6.2.
In terms of the average and standard deviation of the cultural refinement process according
to the doctrine in Lampang's ancient scriptures of learning activities participants (after
learning) in all 3 aspects; in the mental aspect, the overall was high level at (x) 4.02, an
overall average of intelligence was high level at (x) 4.07, and an average of behavior was
high level at (x) 4.11. The participants' satisfaction of the ancient scripture learning activities
found that participants of the ancient text learning activities were satisfied with the activity
with the average overall activity at (x) 4.01.
The three established principles can be used as an appropriate example of
cultural refinement in Lampang educational institution consisted of 3 aspects namely, 1)
pattern of conduct, 2) principles of living together or social etiquette, and 3) religious beliefs
from the teachings that appear in the texts. The researcher has brought to create a
knowledge set for cultural refining in Lampang's educational institutions. The experimental
results using such knowledge found that, students were interested in learning the ancient
texts and applied the doctrines from the texts into their daily life. Moreover, it is also a good
extension of learning language and local literature as well. Especially, the students who are
sample groups have adopted the teachings and beliefs to convey to people in the
community to learn together and aimed to develop analytical thinking and processes in the
school learning system or educational institutions to be in the way of morality and ethics.
