This research, "Lines and color: Contemporary Art through Studying the Value and Emotion in Lanna Folk Painting for the sake of Society's Education." Is a creativity research with the objectives to study techniques, indigenous knowledge, the creativity, value and emotion of ancient Lanna artists through their painting. Also, to create new pieces of contemporary art based on the result of the study. The research result is as
Ancient Lanna artists used the straightforward way to express their feeling through the painting, create the simple two-dimensional lines but overlap each another to create the simply deep and perspective of the painting. The color that used in their work are natural powdered colors, the expression of the color is not complicated, just a flat artwork with the simple details from different colors. the story that is told in the art is from the folktales, belief, faith in the story and teachings of Buddhist religion in the northern part of Thailand. From this result of the research, the researcher used the known how from the study to create new pieces of contemporary art based on the techniques, indigenous knowledge, and the creativity of ancient Lanna artists. This is one of the best preservative ways to inherit the indigenous knowledgeof northern Lanna Thai folk art and to publish the result of the study to society.
