Abstract:
The study consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the types of local products of Baan Koh Hua Chang, Phrabat Wangtuang Subdistrict, Mae Phrik District, Lampang Province; 2) to explore the distribution process of local product of Baan Koh Hua Chang, Phrabat Wangtuang Subdistrict, Mae Phrik District, Lampang Province; and 3) to present the guidelines for promoting the distribution of local product of Baan Koh Hua Chang, Phrabat Wangtuang Subdistrict, Mae Phrik District, Lampang Province. The study used a qualitative research method through in-depth interviews with 17 key informants and focus group discussion with 13 persons. The obtained data were analyzed by explanatory and descriptive methods.
From the study, the following results are found:
1) From investigating the types of local products of Baan Koh Hua Chang, Phrabat Wangtuang Subdistrict, Mae Phrik District, Lampang Province, it is discovered that the main occupations of residents in Baan Koh Hua Chang are farming including longan and lemon planting, while the additional occupation is crispy rice cracker. The original local products include crispy rice cracker, gallop, bamboo basket, sun-dried banana, sweet banana crisps, tobacco, crisp rice-cakes, dipper, fermented rice, and solar dried bananas. There is the establishment of a group for making the crispy rice cracker called Khao Tan Nam Taengmo Mae Boon Pin. The crispy rice cracker is divided into 4 kinds which are Original Khao Tan Nam Taengmo, Syrup Khao Tan Nam Taengmo, Grain Khao Tan Nam Taengmo, and Dried Shredded Pork Khao Tan Nam Taengmo.
2) The distribution process of local product of Baan Koh Hua Chang, Phrabat Wangtuang Subdistrict, Mae Phrik District, Lampang Province is found as follows: (1) Groups identity that is distinctive and easy to remember, the product name should have two to three syllables, the packaging color should stand out, the packaging size should not be too big or too small, and reasonable pricing given the size and low cost; (2) The style, packaging, product, price, and name of the operator; (3) Pricing should be reasonable, and the product should be sufficient for the buyer and distributor; (4) Distribution channels should be determined by market conditions, with online shipment being the most appropriate during the Covid-19 period; (5) Personnel should have ideas for transforming new styles of product with more delicious flavor, publicize and form friendships with consumers in order to increase the network and gain more customers, customers and consumers should be recommended to consume before the expiry date, as well as to store it properly, and lastly, customer follow-up to assess satisfaction and expand the market; (6) Process which should include new styles and with more public relation to motivate customers, as well as FDA certification.
3) The guidelines for promoting the distribution of local product of Baan Koh Hua Chang, Phrabat Wangtuang Subdistrict, Mae Phrik District, Lampang Province found as follows: (1) The background of crispy rice cracker; (2) The inheritance of local product from generation to generation; (3) The product is both a snack and a souvenir for family, friends, bosses, monks, and others. It can also be advertised to the broader public; (4) Building a network to develop a local product and pass it on to future generations in the community. To ensure that the product is sustainable, it is important to employ new and diverse technologies that the next generation can use and understand the whole manufacturing process, from packaging to distributing. The learning center for transferring knowledge should be established and supported
