Abstract:
This dissertation employs a Research and Development or (R and D) research which aims to develop a model leading to A Model of Developing An Ideal Leader Coach In Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means. It adopts the theoretical framework in Theravada Buddhism integrated with modern science in order to develop a model. The developed model is tested to find the most efficiency under the topic A Model of Developing An Ideal Leader Coach In Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means with the following objectives: (1) to investigate circumstances and framework in developing a model leading to an ideal leader coach in peace according to the modern science; (2) to explore the Buddhist peaceful means for developing an ideal leader coach in peace; and (3) to present a model of developing an ideal leader coach in peace by Buddhist peaceful means.
The results of this research are:
(1) From investigating the circumstances and framework in developing a model leading to an ideal leader coach in peace according to the modern science, it is found that the problem of coaching is on lacking of knowledge and understanding of the coachs role and how coaching helps in empowering people. In fact, coaching
is widely recognized as the powerful tool in developing people. International Coaching
Federation (ICF) of the United States of America is the largest coaching institute of the world with 27 years of establishment to lead the global advancement of the coaching profession. This research is, therefore, based upon the ICF coaching science. Coaching is valuable for everyone in unleashing his potentials to learn and grow boundlessly. The ICF coaching principle is that Coaches must have strong beliefs with no doubt in their Coachees potentials. Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires coachees to maximize their personal and professional potentials. Most importantly, coaching is not about teaching or giving any advices.
(2) The Buddhist peaceful means for developing a model leading to an ideal leader coach in peace consist of the following three Dhammas: 1) Kalyāṇamitta-dhamma (Seven Qualities of a Good Friend); 2) Magga (the Noble Eightfold Path); and 3) Bhāvanā (Four Developments). Coaches must be mindful for the initial step of their coaching process and help Coachees exploring their lives to understand their purposes. The Noble Eightfold Path is the right way of living their lives moderately. Coaching process will help coachees achieving their successes as indicated by the Four Developments. And the Seven Qualities of a Good Friend are a good attribution of Coaches.
(3) To present A Model of An Ideal Leader Coach In Peace by Buddhist Peaceful Means, it is revealed that the model is designed for the unique pattern of ideology, principle, process and method in order to create the oneness Peace Coach. PEACE Model is the perfect model for Peace Coach consisting of five elements: 1) Peace (Creating An Inner Peace) 2) Education (Self-Exploration) 3) Attribution (Characteristics of Coaches) 4) Competency (Coaching Competencies) and 5) Energy (Energy for Success). The Peace Innovation created by this Dissertation in the form of Peace Coach Training Program was successfully tried out by the sampling group of 20 learners. The whole process was well designed from the initial step of selecting the right learners upon the assessment of both the testing and the interviewing. The online teaching process in 2 consecutive periods of 4 days or 28 hours was successful. Learners were very determined and engaged in collaboratively helping each other to practice coaching in class and after class. Eventually they could pass the Coaching Assessment to become the Peace Coach. The evaluating step of both the Trainer and the Curriculum after class showed very good results.
I have created an innovation to serve the society by developing Peace Coaches to unleash peoples potentials by coaching. Peace Coach Training Program and the PEACE Model are the new knowledge leading to on-going activities in conducting short course training programs with positive impact to the individual, organization, community, society and the country in the future.
