Abstract:
The research was a pre-experimental research with the following objectives: 1) to study the collaborative learning management for developing the learning achievement in the subject of civic duty, culture, and social life for the 6th elementary school students, Wat Sommanat School, Bangkok; 2) to study the learning achievement of pretest and posttest by applying the collaborative learning in the subject of civic duty, culture, and social life for the 6th elementary school students, Wat Sommanat School, Bangkok; and 3) to propose suggestions on the collaborative learning management for developing the learning achievement in the subject of civic duty, culture, and social life for the 6th elementary school students, Wat Sommanat School, Bangkok. A sample group was acquired by means of purposive sampling and consisted of students who were studying at the 6th elementary school, in a total of 1 classroom and 30 students. The research instruments were a learning management plan and learning achievement test on the collaborative learning management by means of a one-group pretest posttest design, in a total of 30 questions.
The results of the research are as follows:
1) From studying the collaborative learning management for developing the learning achievement in the subject of civic duty, culture, and social life for the 6th elementary school students, Wat Sommanat School, Bangkok, it is found that collaborative learning management is the learning management that focuses on working and learning as a group in which each student learns to delegate the work during the learning activities and is responsible for the assigned work. Students learn to work together with others which is training for them to socialize, be compassionate to others, and coexist in the society through group work activities with contents on Thai culture, allowing students to learn contents and gain group work skills. As a result, students have more understanding of the subject and more happiness in learning which they can apply this skill in their daily lives.
2) The results from studying the learning achievement of pretest and posttest by applying the collaborative learning in the subject of civic duty, culture, and social life for the 6th elementary school students, Wat Sommanat School, Bangkok, it is found that pretest has a mean (x̅) equal to 11.23 with a standard deviation (S.D.) at 2.112. While posttest has a mean (x̅) equal to 24.50 with a standard deviation (S.D.) at 2.980. This represents that posttest has a score higher than pretest with a statistical significance at 0.05 which is according to the assumption set.
3) The suggestions on the collaborative learning management for developing the learning achievement in the subject of civic duty, culture, and social life for the 6th elementary school students, Wat Sommanat School, Bangkok are as follows: 1) Teachers should basically make students satisfied in learning, have love and unity for roommates; 2) Teachers should encourage students to have effort in seeking knowledge and understanding the contents through group activities; and 3) Teachers should apply technology in their teaching techniques and methods for students to have more interest in learning and making the atmosphere more pleasant to learn.
