Abstract:
The aims of this research were: 1) to study the process for promoting theconsciousness of being a good citizen of youth according to the principles of
Buddhism of the moral teaching monks; 2) to study the characteristics of being agood citizen of youth based on Buddhist principles; 3) to analyze the Buddhist
principles suitable to promote the consciousness of being a good citizen of youth inaccordance with the Buddhist principles of the moral teaching monks. This study wascarried out by using the mixed research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative)and the descriptive analysis was used to interpret the gathered data.
The research results were as follows:
1) The overall mean of the process for promoting the consciousness ofbeing a good citizen of youth according to the principles of Buddhism of the moral
teaching monks was seen at a high statistical level. The mean scores of the studiedindividual aspects were also the same level. The highest one was seen in the aspectof 'social skill', followed by 'knowledge', 'body' and 'mind'.
2) The mean of characteristics of being a good citizen of youth accordingto Buddhist principles (moral teaching monks) as a whole was seen at a high level.
When individually considered in descending order, it was found that the highestscore can be seen in the aspect of 'respecting and politely greeting the parents,
relatives, teachers and friends', followed by 'respecting and honoring nationalinstitutions, religions and monarchs', 'together following up, evaluating, improving
the operation' and 'wide view, analysis, reasonable criticism'.
3) Based on the analysis, the Buddhist principle suitable to promote theconsciousness of being a good citizen of youth in accordance with the Buddhist
principles of the moral teaching monk is the Four Iddhipada-dhamma (iddhipada,path of accomplishment) composed of Chanda (aspiration), Viriya (energy), Citta(thoughtfulness) and VImamsa (Investigation)."
