Academic administration according to real situations and expectations of primary schools under the Jurisdiction of the office Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Primary Education
Abstract:
The study investigated and compared the levels of academic administration according to real situations and expectations of primary schools under the jurisdiction of the Office of Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Primary Education, viewed by school administrators, school teachers and community leaders among schools of different sizes : small, medium and large.
The sample subjects of the study were 149 school administrators, 298 school teachers and 149 community leaders (chairmen of basic education school boards). The instrument used for gathering data was a questionnaire of 66 rating-scale items and some opened-ended questions. The data were statistically analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, t test and F test.
The findings revealed the following : 1. Both overall and individual aspects of academic administration in the real situations viewed by school administrators, school teachers and community leaders revealed a moderate level while their expectations revealed a high level. 2. Concerning different school sizes : small, medium and large, the views of school administrators, school teachers and community leaders on the situations of the overall aspects of administration were significantly different at the .05 level : the views of those from large and small sized schools were significantly different at the .01 level while the views of those from large and medium sized schools were significantly different at the .05 level.
3. Also, the expectations of school administrators, school teachers and community leaders from schools of different sizes : small, medium and large on the overall aspects were significantly different at the .01 level : the expectations of those working in schools of large and medium sizes were significantly different from of those in schools of small size at the 0.5 level. 4. Comparing the real situations with expectations of school administrators, school teachers and community leaders on the overall aspects, they were significantly different at the .001 level ; the expectations were generally higher than the real situations. 5. Concerning real situations the views of academic administration, school administrators, school teachers and community leaders were significantly different at the .001 level : school teachers and community leaders views were significantly different from school administrators, at the .05 level while school teachers and community leaders views were significantly different at the .001 level. 6. The expectations of school administrators, school teachers and community leaders on the overall aspects were not significantly different
