Abstract:
A cross-sectional analytic study was aimed to evaluate the nutritional status knowledge, perception on health, preventive behaviors toward overnutrition and relation of nutritional status knowledge, health perception, overnutrition protective behaviors to nutritional status among Prathom Suksa 5 6 students in Mae Tha District, Lamphun Province.The Samples of this study were 235 students who studied in Prathom Suksa 5-6 in the first semester, 2016 at the Primary schools under the Office of the National Primary Education in area of Mae Tha District.Data was collected by questionnaire and analyzed by using descriptive statistics and Chi Square Test at p<0.05. The results revealed that the students nutritional status was distributed into balance nutrition (58.3%), overweight (10.2%), pre obesity (14.5%) and obesity (17.0%). In addition, students had nutritional knowledge in good level shown as 60.4%. Overall of students (68.5%) were moderate in health perception that perception in overnutrition risk factors, violence and obstacles of overnutrition prevention were in mediate level. The awareness in advantage of overnutrition prevention and health attitude in overnutrition preventive behaviors were in excellent level.Overview of the overnutrition preventive behavior was moderately shown as 77.40%. A consumptive behavior among the students was found in the intermediate level (78.30%). An exercise activity was additionally presented in moderate level as shown 49.8%. The analytical study showed that the studentsnutritional status knowledge and health perception were not related to behaviors for preventive overnutrition.The Nutritional status knowledge and health perception were also not related to the nutritional status. In contrast, preventive behaviors for overnutrition were significantly related to nutritional condition of students as 0.007 (p<0.05).
