Abstract:
Thisresearchaimed tostudy boththe desirable
and the actual academic leadership behaviors in
order tocreatethemodeland toassess themodel
of the development of the academic leadership
behaviorsof HeadsofForeignLanguages Department
in Schools under the Secondary Educational
Service Area Office 31. The research consisted of
4 procedures: 1) studying the desirable academic
leadership behaviors2)studyingtheactualacademic
leadership behaviors 3) creating the model and 4)
assess the models appropriateness and feasibility
using a questionnaire for collecting data and using
contentanalysisas wellas thecalculationofmean
and standard deviation for data analysis
Research findings showed that
1. The 3 aspects of the desirable academic
leadership behaviors of Heads of Foreign
LanguagesDepartmentinSchoolsundertheSecondary
Educational Service Area Office 31 were:1)
Curriculum and learning management which
consisted of 8 behaviors of the creation of school
curriculaand 10 behaviorsof learningmanagement;
2)6 behaviorsof learningmanagementsupervision;3)
11 behaviorsofacademicatmospheremanagement
2. The 3 aspects of the actual academic
leadership behaviors of Heads of Foreign
LanguagesDepartmentinSchoolsundertheSecondary
Educational Service Area Office 31 were practiced
in a high level when considered both in general
and in each particular aspect.
3. The 6 elements of the model of the
developmentof theacademicleadership behaviors
of Heads of Foreign Languages Department in
Schools under the Secondary Educational Service
Area Office 31 were principles, objectives, the
leadership behaviors whichneeded development,
development methods, development plans and
development procedures which consisted of 4
steps: studying theacademicleadership behaviors
which needed development, preparing for the
development, developingtheacademicleadership
behaviors and assessing the development results.
4. The model of the development of the
academicleadership behaviorsof HeadsofForeign
LanguagesDepartmentinSchoolsundertheSecondary
Educational Service Area Office 31 was in a high
level intermsof itsappropriatenessand feasibility
