Abstract:
ABSTRACT
The research aimed to compare: 1) the social study learning achievement of Mathayomsuksa 1 students before and after learning using problem-based learning with small group-discussion techniques; and 2) the thinking ability in solving problems of Mathayomsuksa 1 students before and after learning by using problem-based learning with small group-discussion techniques. The sample was 26 Mathayomsuksa 1 students studying in the first semester of the academic year 2020 at Watratbumrung School, Krathum Baen, Samut Sakhon Province, derived by cluster random sampling. The research instruments were: 1) lesson plans based on problem-based learning together with small group-discussion techniques; 2) a social study achievement test; and 3) a problem solving ability test. The statistics used in data analysis were mean, standard deviation, and t-test.
The results of this research were as follows:
The social study learning achievement of Mathayomsuksa 1 students after learning using problem-based learning with small group-discussion techniques was higher than that of before with statistical significance at .05.
The thinking ability in solving problems of Mathayomsuksa 1 students after learning using problem-based learning with small group-discussion techniques was higher than that of before with statistical significance at .05.
