The enhancement of emotional resilience of undergraduate students whose families were affected by the unrest situation in the southern border provinces through integrative counseling model
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were; 1) to study the emotional resilience path model of undergraduate students whose families were affected by the unrest situation in the Southern Border Provinces, 2) to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrative individual counseling model in enhancing emotional resilience of students. The samples were undergraduate students whose families were affected by the unrest situation in the Southern Border Provinces. The study consisted of 2 phases: Phase 1 the sample was 420 students who were randomly selected to study path model emotional resilience. Phase 2 the sample was 30 students who were purposively selected from students at Songkhla Rajabhat University. They were randomly assigned into three groups, two experiment groups and a control group. The research instruments were; 1) emotional resilience scale, 2) the integrative individual counseling model to emotional resilience consisted of; 2.1) integrative counseling model based on Rational Emotive Behavior Theory, 12 sessions of 60-90 minutes each. 2.2) the social media counseling model based on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, 8 sessions of 60-90 minutes each. The research results were as follows: 1. The study path model of emotional resilience of students; the emotional resilience path model is in line with the empirical data with the variables of self-esteem, self-control, social support and optimism were directly affected emotional resilience at 0.22, 0.25, 0.11 and 0.33 respectively. All variables helped predicting the emotional resilience variable at 58 percent. 2. The results of the implementation of the integrative counseling model; 2.1 The students emotional resilience after participating in the integrative counseling model and after the follow-up based on Rational Emotive Behavior Theory were significantly higher than the pre-test. 2.2 The students emotional resilience after participating in the social media counseling model and after the follow-up based on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy were significantly higher than the pre-test. 2.3 The students emotional resilience after participating in the integrative counseling model and after the follow-up based on Rational Emotive Behavior Theory were significantly higher than the control group. 2.4 The students emotional resilience after participating in the social media counseling model, and after the follow-up based on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy were significantly higher than the control group.
