A study of school administrator skills in the 21st century for the school administrators working in the schools under Ubon Ratchathani provincial administration organization
Abstract:
The objectives of the research were to investigate and compare the opinions of the school teachers towards the school administrator skills in the 21st century and study the suggestions related to the school administrator skills used in the 21st century. The samples of the research were 233 school administrators and teachers working in the schools under Ubonratchathani Provincial Administration Organization in 2015. The research instruments were 40 items of 5-level-scale questionnaires with the validity at .98. The analysis statistics were average, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and the investigation of the differences of the pairwise averages by Scheffe′ method.
The results of the research were found as follows.
1. The school administrator skills in the 21st century consisted of 4 aspects: leadership and working with the other, the creativity and innovation, flexibility and adaptability, and being population in the globalization. Moreover, the study also found that the results in aspects, items, and overall of the aspects were at the high level.
2. The school administrator skills in the 21st century for the school administrators working in the schools under the Ubonratchathani Provincial Administration Organization classified by positions, genders, ages, and experience were different with the statistical significance at the level of .01, but the education was not different.
3. The suggestions of the school administrator skills in the 21 st century in the school under Ubonratchathani Provincial Administration Organization were that the school administrators should build the harmony, encourage and support teachers to work, and listen to the ideas of the co-workers and controlees by using Brahmavihara 4 or Four principles of virtuous existence in managing the schools. Moreover, they should have the creative ideas, develop new works continually, develop teachers to get ready in various aspects, and support the budgets to build innovations for all educational subjects. Furthermore, they should mange schools flexibly according to the appropriateness, have kindness, have ideas up-to-date to deal with the changing world, and build the schools to be the schools for modern learning, modern developing media, and modern technology.
