The Guidelines for the Prevention and Solution of Drug Problems in the Education Institutions under the Office of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Secondary Educational Service Area 3.
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study: 1) the condition and problems of drug prevention and its solution in the educational institutions and 2) the guidelines for the prevention and solution of drug problems in educational institutions. There were 2 stages of the research process. The first stage was to study the condition and problems of drug prevention and its solution in the educational institutions. The sample consisted of the principals of the institution, the heads of the drug prevention division, and the teachers handling of drug problems in the educational institutions under the Office of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Secondary Educational Service Area 3, a total of 87 people. They were selected by purposive random sampling. The research instrument employed in this study was a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of the operating conditions of 0.98 and of the problems to operate of 0.96. The statistical tools used for data analysis were mean and standard deviation. The second stage was to study the guidelines for the prevention and solution of drug problems in the educational institutions. The participants included 5 school principals and educators, at the senior professional level. The data collection tool was an interview using content analysis as the data analysis tool.
The results indicated that 1) the condition of drug prevention and its solution in the institutions was at a high level overall. The highest mean score of the measures was found in the prevention aspect and the secondary mean score was in the aspect of surveillance, searching, and management administration, while the lowest was found in the remedy aspect. Moreover, the problems of drug prevention and its solution in the institutions was at an average level overall. The highest mean score of the problems was found in the prevention aspect and the secondary mean score was in the aspects of remedy, surveillance, and management administration, while the lowest was found in the searching aspect. 2) The guidelines for drug prevention and its solution in the institutions consisted of 5 measures. Measure 1 is the prevention aspect covering 5 items; for instance, the teachers in charge of the class give the students the knowledge about drugs by making the bulletin board in the classrooms and running an exhibition on important occasions. Measure 2 is the searching aspect consisting of 5 items; for example, the teachers visit the students house. Measure 3 is the practice aspect covering 5 items, such as, school administrators giving encouragement to the previous drug users by talking more often and listening to their problems without showing disgust. Measure 4 is the surveillance aspect covering 4 items; for example, the school administrators have an understanding with the places of business about the necessary reasons to ask for their cooperation. And measure 5 is the management administration aspect consisting of 4 items, such as, the schools specify the drug prevention policy and its solution.
