Creating a Diagnostic Test for Conducting Exams by Using Computer Entitled, Language Expression Thai Language Department, Grade 6 Level, Buriram Primary Educational Service Area Office 4
Abstract:
The objective of this research was to construct a diagnostic test for conducting a computer-based Language principles exam in Thai language Department, Grade 6under Buriram Primary Educational Service Area Office 4. The samples used in this research consisted of the total number of 330students in Grade6under the Buriram Educational Service Area Office 4from 16schools, selected by multi - stage random sampling and used in the survey to examine the deficiency and quality of diagnostic test for conducting the computer-based examination on language principles.The findings of this research revealed that:
1. The results of the construction of the diagnostic test for Thai language principles for students in Grade 6 were found there was the test constructed into four parts: Part 1 regarding the type and function of wordswith 24 items, Part 2 regarding the royal words with 17 items, Part 3 regarding the words from foreign language with 25 items, and Part 4 dealing with composition of sentence with 19 items.
2. The validity of the testwhich was a cloze test to find out its deficiency, examined in content by experts and educational assessors, was found that there were consistencies between content and behavioral objectives, and each item of the testwas able to be measured according to the realbehavioral objectives.
3. The quality of the constructed diagnostic test which was divided into four parts as follows:
Part 1 regarding the type and function of the words was found that the difficulty index of the test ranged from 0.42 to 0.73, the discriminant index ranged from 0.24 to 0.74, and the reliability was 0.87.
Part 2regarding the royal words was found that the difficulty index of the test ranged from 0.44 to 0.74, the discriminant index ranged from 0.40 to 0.78, and the reliability was 0.82.
Part 3 regarding the words from foreign languages was found that the difficulty index of the test ranged from 0.34 to 0.67, the discriminant index ranged from 0.41 to 0.72, and the reliability was 0.86.
Part 4 regarding the composition of sentencewas found that the difficulty index of the test ranged from 0.41 to 0.67, the discriminant index ranged from 0.46 to 0.85, and the reliability was 0.84.
4. The frequency and percentage of deficiency features from four parts of the diagnostic test in the 3rdtest were as follows:
4.1 Part 1 regarding the types and functions of words was found that 20.65 percent of students were the most deficient in the unclear understanding of the meaning.
4.2 Part 2 regarding the royal words was found that 18.9 percent of students were deficient in the most deficient in the unclear understanding of the meaning.
4.3 Part 3 regarding the words from foreign languages was found that 25.12 percent of students were deficient in misusing the analogy.
4.4 Part 4 regarding the composition of sentences was found that 24.17 percent of students were deficient with no understanding of the language principles.
5. The result of the computer program development in diagnosing the deficiency of students in grade 6 inThai language subject was found that there was the appropriateness at a high level, accepted by experts in the aspects ofbenefit, possibility, suitability, and correctness of the program.
