Discriminant Analysis of Basic Schools Factors Affecting Ordinary National Educational Test (O-NET) For High and Low Scores of Prathomsuksa 6 Students, Buriram Primary Educational Service Area Office 2
Abstract:
This research aims to 1) study factors affecting Ordinary National Educational Test (O-NET), 2) to conduct the discriminant analysis the basicschool factors affecting Ordinary National Educational Test (O-NET), and 3) to construct the discriminant equation of Ordinary National Educational Test (O-NET) of grade 6 students of Buriram Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The sample consisted of 40 school administrators and 40 teachers, selected from 40 schools, divided intotwo groups: 24 schools with the high scores of Ordinary National Educational Test (O-NET) at 75 percentile (P75) and 16 schools with the low scores of Ordinary National Educational Test (O-NET) at 25 percentile (P25). Research instruments were two types: in-depth interview and 2 questionnaires, 1) consisting for School administrator having discriminating power (rxy) ranging from .54 to .92 with statistical significance of .05 and an overall reliability of .98 and 2) consisting for teacher having discriminating power (rxy) ranging from .52 to .80 with statistical significance of .05 and an overall reliability of .93Statistics used in data analysis were percentage, mean, S.D., t-test and Wilkss Lambdas stepwise method was employed in Discriminant Analysis.
The research results were as follows:
1) Factors affecting Ordinary National Educational Test (O-NET) results ware terms of Evaluation measurement, Teaching preparation, Different teaching methods and Building conditions.
2) The finding of the study revealed that the prathomsuksa6 students scores could be respectively discriminated only 4 factors from 10 factors in terms of Evaluation measurement, Teaching preparation, Different teaching methods and Building conditions factors was statistically significant at .05 with its accuracy discriminated group of 100%
3) The discriminated equations in raw-score and standard-score forms could be showed as follows :
Raw score of predicting equation
Y = -6.978-1.510(CON) -1.132(TEA) +2.086(MEA) + 2.257(PRE)
Standard score of predicting equation
Zy = -.779(CON)-.589(TEA) + .877(PRE)+ 1.052(MEA)
