Abstract:
The aim of this research was to assess water footprint (WF) of jasmine ricecultivated in irrigated area, Surin province. In this research, the data was collected by the field research technique. Furthermore, the CROPWAT software was used to process data including: rainfall, atmospheric data, evapotranspiration data, rice yield and rice cultivation. Field information was obtained from farmer interviews. These data includes: area of rice production, rice data, and fertilizer consumption of rice.
The results of this research revealed that water footprint of jasmine rice for the years of 2016 was about 1,690.4 m3/ton, of (42.4%) was green, 436.2 m3/ton 925.8%0 was blue, and 537 m3/ton (31.77%) was grey, respectively. Results of the study compared with other researches showed that the water footprint of jasmine rice in Surin province differed from another region. Besides, this research presented the different factors that were related with rice grown period, effective rainfall and the crop coefficient (kc). The result of this research could be used as basic data for water management in an agricultural activity.
