Study of crack problem of epoxy mould for RIM process
การศึกษาปัญหาการแตกร้าวของแม่พิมพ์อีพ๊อกซี่ในกระบวนการ RIM
Abstract:
Many of component and accessory parts of car such as front and rear bumpers
are produced by reaction injection molding (RIM process). The frames are always made
of steel, and the cavities are frequently mode of other high-quality materials, e.g. metals
or nonmetals. Recently, nonmetallic materials have been growing significantly in mould
construction. This is due to the use of new technologies and to the fact that users
which to obtain mouldings as quickly and inexpensively as possible that have been
produced in production. The epoxies are popular nonmetallic materials for replacing the
metals. But the main disadvantage of the epoxy mould comparing with the metal mould
is such that the epoxy mould could be easier damaged due to high mold temperature or
large temperature gradient than the steel or aluminum mould. This study aims to
determine the mechanical properties of epoxies for making the epoxy mould, to analyze
the causes of crack introduced on the surface of epoxy mould, and to advise the
method for extending life cycle of epoxy mould.
