Abstract:
The purposes of this study were 1) to study career decision making of secondary students in Thailand, 2) to develop an integrative group counseling model of secondary students in Thailand, and 3) to study the result of an integrative group counseling model towards career decision making of secondary students in Thailand. The research was divided into 2 steps: step 1 was studying the career decision making of 1,000 grade 10 students through the use of career decision making measurement form developed by the researcher. The reliability of this measurement form which was 0.91 was examined by the confirmatory factor analysis. Step 2 was developing an integrative group counseling model and studying the results of an integrative group counseling model with 20students whose average scores of career decision making was between low and moderate level. The samples were randomly assigned into an experimentalgroup and a control group. Each group comprised of 10 students. Twelve treatments were given. Each session lasted for 90 minuteswhen the Repeated Measures Analysis of Variance was conducted. Research results can be summarized as follows: 1. The career decision making of the secondary school studentsin Thailand was found to be at a high level ( X = 3.57, SD = 0.62) However, the career decision making of the secondary school students who were in the northeast region wasfound to be at a moderate level ( X = 3.46, SD = 0.58). When considering each element, it was found that the contentment and determination of career decision making of the secondary school studentsin Thailand were found to be at a high level ( X = 3.71, SD = 0.68 and X = 3.57, SD = 0.74 respectively) The reasons toward the career decision making of the secondary school studentsin Thailand were found to be at a moderate level ( X = 3.42, SD = 0.73). 2. The integrative group counseling model for enhancing the career decision making the researcher created was developed from the concepts of cognitive behavioral group counseling and other group counseling theories consisted of person-centred group counseling, rational emotive behavior therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, family counseling, behaviorism theory, and reality theory. This model included initial stage, working stage, and termination stage. 3. The results of integrative group counseling model for enhancing of career decision making found that 3.1 The average post-test score of the career decision making of the secondary students in the experimental group washigher than the one in the control group with statistical significance at .05 level. 3.2 The average post-test score of the career decision making of secondary students in the experimental group was higher than pre-test one with statistical significance at .05 level
