Effects of activity package based on peer-mediation model to enhance conflict resolution skills: a case study of elementary student council in the three southern border provinces
Abstract:
This research aimed to study the effects of activity package based on peer-mediation model to enhance conflict resolution skills for elementary student council in the three southern border provinces. The sample were 31 fourth to sixth grade elementary student council of a large public elementary school located at a southern border province in Thailand. All students participated, as the sample in this study, were purposive selected. To conduct an experiment of the study, the researcher used (1) the conflict resolution skill test using rating scale 25 questions (2) the semi-structured oral test 5 questions. The treatment to be implemented included 18 activity packages based on peer-mediation model, 2 hours a week. All collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistic (i.e., mean, standard deviation) and content analysis. It was found that, after learning through the implemented 18 activity packages, the students higher demonstrated their conflict resolution skill with statistically significant level at .05. They also had ability to understand the emotions of others, to be a good listener, and realize that peer mediation was important process to help them deal with conflict in school.
