Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to study the effects of art teaching by using Edmund Feldmans theory-based art criticism method on art work critique abilities of prathom suksa six students. The sample group of the research was 33 prathom suksa six students at Chulalongkorn University demonstration elementary school in the second semester of academic year 2005. The research instruments construction by the researcher were 1) art work critique test. 2) lesson plan 3) student behaviour observation from, and 4) student self-report. The obtained data were analyzed by using means, standard deviations, t-test frequencies and percentage. The research results were revealed; 1) Art work critique abilities of prathom suksa six students after learning art by using Edmund Feldmans method was higher at the .05 level of significance. 2) When consider only the topics in criticize the students have their average score on the describe; however in the behaviour side, learner mostly describe on line color, and shape. 3) Students self evaluation and opinions, it was found that students had done activities as time they were assigned. They were pleasant during the various activities which were the Edmund Feldmans art criticism theory. The research suggested that to teach art by using the art criticism model, students should have Knowledge about visual art basic elements, which is a tool for criticize an art work. Furthermore, instructor should encourage class to keep students pleasantly to answer any questions or to show opinions. This teaching method could be support about critical thinking and made student thinking opened wide got many thinking and idea. Students could be applied their artwork.
