Study and development of utilization of teak for decorative design : a case study occupational group of teak in Danmaechalaep sub-district, Sisawat district, Kanchanaburi province
Abstract:
This research about study and development of utilization of teak for decorative design: a case study occupational group of take in Dan Mae Chalaep sub-district, Si Sawat district, Kanchanaburi, have following purposes 1.) to study about quality of teak from plantation 2.) to develop and design furniture from teak timber production 3.) to evaluate user satisfaction towards furniture from teak wood. The researcher study documental investigation and other related researches as well as doing field study in Si Sawat distict, Kanchanaburi and take sample of teak for quality test process. The test result is significantly key to develop sketch design of furniture through advisors and professionals from product design (Quality Function Deployment) and (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) and then start process of model creation and satisfaction evaluation.
The result shows that teak plantation from Si Sawat district, Kanchanaburi, age from 10-14 years which is the youngest trees with average quality have higher shrinkage ration than the older one. The heartwood has dark and light shade of grey color and sapwood has light yellow shade which is easy drying and having high durability that is suitable for variety of furniture. The researcher develop sketch design from teak wood such as floor lamp, table lamp and wall lamp. This design is reviewed by professionals from product design. The evaluation result is acceptable (x̄ = 3.71, SD = 0.30). After that, the researcher create model and customer satisfaction evaluation towards furniture design. The result shows high satisfaction (x̄ = 3.88, S.D. = 0.12)
