Abstract:
This article aims to study to study the way of life of Kampong Ayer people in Brunei Darussalam under the ecotourism trend. The data was collected by in-depth interviews with people living in Kampong Air Village. Brunei Darussalam Tourists, boat drivers, guides, community leaders who organized a homestay tour of 15 people, analyzed the data by categorizing them according to the issue, interpreting, creating conclusions. The Research result that: 1) Looking through boat drivers and boat builders, it was found that the lifestyles most exposed to tourists were boat drivers, mostly because tourists were interested in exploring water villages and ecotourism and people culture. Driving a boat is important, in addition to being able to drive a boat, be polite and able to communicate in Malay, Brunei, and also be able to communicate in English, and still need to have knowledge of their own culture to be able to explain to tourists while boatbuilding is still a career that can survive because it is necessary to use a roaming boat. 2) Homestay and a merchant in Kampong Ayer, the study found that the number of homestay workers in Kampong Ayer is low, and some homestay workers use the old houses that were left behind as they live on land. Convert it into a homestay or for some monthly rent, use a new, modern house allocated by the state close to a traditional home. By allocating some rooms as tourist accommodation, vendors can bring souvenirs, food and drinks to the tourists in Kampong Ayer.
