Abstract:
The research objectives aimed to create the problem-based learning management plan entitled
Element and Compound Characteristic, to study students' problem solving ability by using the
evaluation fonn on Element and Compound Characteristic and compare the students' learning
achievement before and after studying. A sampling group using a purposing sampling was the 41h
year high school students of Sriboonyanon School located at Amphur Muang, Nonthaburi the
students are studying in the 2nd semester of the academic year B.E. 2549. Tools in this research
were the problem-based learning management plan, an interview on the problem-based learning,
an evaluation fonn on the problem solving ability, and a learning achievement test. Statistics used
for analyzing data were mean, standard deviation and t-test.
The research results were as follows:
1) The problem-based learning management plan experimented with the sampling group provided
the efficiency in tenns of knowledge, procedure skills, and qualifications following to the Basic
Education Plan B.E. 2544. After the problem-based learning with an interview, the students
expressed their positive attitudes that the knowledge and the experience from the problem-based
learning by using the solving ability and the science procedure skill could be used in daily life.
Also, it could be used for a self-study in various subjects especially on science subject.
2) The mean scores of students' problem solving ability on Element and Compound Characteristic
were 4.48 which at a high level.
3) The learning achievement of pretest scores (x = 9.80) was higher than the posttest scores
(x = 24.79) the problem-based learning with a significant difference of 0.05.
