Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to 1) study the factors of teaching competency of industrial teachers in 21st century under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, 2) validate the model and test the invariance of the teaching competency model for industrial teachers in 21st century under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, and 3) develop guidelines for development of teaching competency of industrial teachers model in 21st century under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission. The samples of the research composed of 3 groups namely, group 1; 7 experts, selected by purposing sampling, group 2; 938 industrial teachers from various technical colleges under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, selected through multi-stage random sampling, and group 3; 10 experts investigating probability using focus group discussion, selected by purposing sampling. The tools used were recording form, semi-structured interview form, focus group discussion recording form, and 5 rating scale questionnaires, which the index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) between 0.80-1.00 and the coefficient of reliability was 0.960. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean (x̄) and standard Deviation (S.D.), second confirmatory factor analysis and multi group analysis. The research results revealed that; 1) the teaching competency factors and indicators of industrial teachers in 21st century, comprised of 10 factors and 42 indicators for knowledge, 9 factors and 37 indicators for skills, and 3 factors and 19 indicators for attributes, 2) the teaching competency model for industrial teachers in 21st century was fitted to the empirical data (Chi-square = 93.931, df = 77, p = .118 X2/df = 1.194, RMSEA = .014 , RMR = .003 GFI = .991 , AGFI = .971 , CFI = .999). The test of invariance of the teaching competency model for industrial teachers in 21st century in comparison between the programs with differences between groups revealed that it was the structural fitted model, and it thus showed the invariance in different programs, 3) the guidelines for development of teaching competency of industrial teachers model in 21st century comprised of further education, self-learning, training and seminar, workshops, field trips and study visits, and internship in workplaces, by which in overall the experts agreed for its feasibility in the highest level.
