The Use of English Vocabulary by Third Year Students in English Major of the Faculty of Humanities

Abstract: The objectives of this study were 1) to study the use of English vocabularies by the third-year students in English. And to analyze the use of English vocabularies by the third-year students in English major. This was quantitative research. A questionnaire was used for collecting quantitative data from 30 students who were studying in the third-year students. An analyzing quantitative data statistics was Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation. Results of study are as follows: Finding from study of the use of English vocabularies in the usage, the researcher had collected and analyzed that the contents and activities, You had confidence when you spoke new vocabulary with the highest mean agree 3.53, You watch English movies or other movies with English phrases with mean agree 3.50, When you met new words, you make it as your own sentence with mean fairly agree 3.47, You practiced new vocabulary almost every day was interesting with mean fairly agree 3.40, You learn vocabulary from the picture, and easy to understand with mean fairly agree 3.40, You listened to a song to develop vocabulary with mean fairly agree 3.37, You read a book for improve new vocabulary as useful with mean fairly agree 3.33, You read newspaper to improve your vocabulary with mean fairly agree 3.23. Finding from a study of the use of English vocabularies in Attitudes, the researcher had collected and analyzed that the contents and activities in Vocabulary difficult to remember with the highest mean fairly agree 3.43, the vocabulary it was not difficult to remember with mean fairly agree 3.30, It was really difficult to learn vocabulary with mean fairly agree 3.27, You were not good at learning Vocabulary by picture with mean fairly agree 2.83. Finding from the study of the analyzing of the use of English vocabularies in Analyzing, the researcher had collected and analyzed that the contents and activities. You could analyze the meaning of words from pictures found in the content with the highest mean strongly agree 5.57, You learn vocabulary from various media such as music, movies and news with mean strongly agree 5.54, You found the word meaning from the English-Thai dictionary with mean strongly agree 5.50, You analyzed the meaning of words by swarming with friends, doing activities or talking with mean fairly agree 3.43, You guessed the meaning of the vocabulary from the context in the sentence with mean fairly agree 3.40, You could analyze the vocabulary from listening, with mean fairly agree 3.30, You could use a variety of vocabulary while conversation with mean fairly agree 3.30, You could use a variety of vocabulary while conversation with mean fairly agree 3.30, You could analyze the vocabulary when you read with mean fairly agree 3.17, You found the word meaning from the Thai-English dictionary, with mean fairly agree 3.07.
