A Study of Academic Writing in English for Myanmar Students at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University
Abstract:
The overall aim of this research was 1) to Study the academic writing in English for Myanmar students at Faculty of Humanities, Mahachularlongkornrajavidyalaya University and 2) to provide the ways to comprehend the academic writing in English for Myanmar students at Faculty of Humanities, Mahachularlongkornrajavidyalaya University. For this research, researcher was using both method of qualitative and quantitative. According to the creative research systems of the complete survey software solution in 1982, the population of the study was selected of from 121 Myanmar students , only 96 Myanmar students were used for being as respondents in this research. It is that academic success is clearly linked to ones ability to write well for them in academic paper.
The result of the research was found that Several new level of study was a new learning experince. In this research, reseacher was summit or introduct to readers abouth the academic writing in English literature clearly in chapter one. In chapter two, the readers also would have opportunity to know the ways how to do academic writing for academic papers strongly and academic audience at academic area. New learning takes place in a particular context and so especially this context can be tought of as the academic social context in wich readers are writing, presenting or publishing. Nevertheless, not all academic writing practices seen to constitute good practice are disciplinaryor course-dependent. Conciseness in writing is valued in general by the academic community, as is treating information critically, attending to audience needs, consistency in the mechanis of academic writing, careful referencing of sources, coherent development of texts, sound logic and evidential support in argument and so material of this type is covered in section two.
in sections three, writer regard to the results of the difficulties of academic writing in English and many students gave several answers but the most of difficulties of them was grammar rule, grammar structures and the usage of academic vocabularies.
Many of Myanmar students stated the problems about the natures of English grammar concerning the types of clauses, the kinds of phrases, and the conjunctions. Of course, most of students can not write sentence clearlly and can not use academic words corretly. That is correct because they responded that they have a few of academic class for them to practice academic writing papers in daily but the impact of factors such as poor self motivation and time management abilitys. In addition, researcher devoted exclusively to the value of academic writing for all academic students to be a succufull academic writer.
In conclussion, the pupose of this case study is to provide and to help the Myanmar students to improve effective approaches to their own writing challenges at academic area certainly.
