Abstract:
The main objective of this research is to develop and test effectiveness of
an innovative work behavior enhancement program for office workers. This objective
can be further divided into 5 minor objectives; 1. to describe the meaning of innovative
work behavior as well as its aspects and courses of development; 2. to develop a tool
for measurement of innovative work behavior by confirmatory factor analysis;
3. to develop concepts of innovative work behavior enhancement program for office
workers; 4. to analyze and synthesize principles for designing of innovative work
behavior enhancement program for office workers in private section; and 5. to compare
participants innovative work behavior between before and after joining the program.
The first phase is a qualitative research; the key informants consist of
1. 5 experts whose his/her work involved with working innovation, and 2. researches
both domestic and foreign from 20002018; the second phase is a quantitative
research; the representative samples were 119 office workers of a private section
(energy business companies); the third phase is a qualitative research; the key
informants consist of 5 experts in research, innovation, and industrial and
organizational psychology; the forth phase is a mixed-method research; the samples
utilized in the first duration of the research were 20 office workers; while, those utilized
in the trial duration were 18 factory workers; quantitative data analyses were
implemented by content analysis and data mining; while, qualitative data analyses
were implemented by descriptive statistics e.g. frequency, mean and standard
deviation, as well as inferential statistics e.g. second order confirmatory factor analysis.
From the research, the significant results are:
1. Innovative work behavior means any action, carried out by a worker,
with respects to generation, support and application of new idea, process, product
or work process for his/her work, department or organization provided that such new
idea should be ground-breaking in the context of such work and tends to be beneficial
to any further work. Innovative work behavior consists of 3 aspects i.e. Idea Generation,
Idea Support and Idea Realization
2. Model for measurement of innovative work behavior consists of
the behaviors of Idea generation, Idea Support and Idea Realization which
are corresponding to the empirical data (X2 = 415.607, df = 372, p = 0.059, X2/df
= 1.117, RMSEA = 0.047, SRMR = 0.078, CFI = 0.989, PGFI = 0.636).
3. Designing of an innovative work behavior enhancement program
are required to be made on these three concepts: 1) Educating as a tool
for innovative creation through active learning; 2) Increase of potential awareness
through enactive mastery experience, verbal persuasion, and 3) Increase of innovative
motivations through specific goal setting.
4. After application of the program, the design principles for the innovative work
behavior enhancement were made on the modification of 1) Educating as a tool
for innovative creation through active learning by considering the learning style of
learner; 2) Increase of potential awareness through enactive mastery experience,
verbal persuasion and physical stimulating, 3) Increase of innovative motivations
through active goal setting by goal envision and goal planning.
5. It was found from the study that the innovative work behavior scores of
the participants after training were higher than those prior to training with a statistical
significance at .05 level. (p<.05)
