The model of facilitator competency development in learning management for the teachers of industrial trades department in technical colleges of technical colleges
Abstract:
This research was aimed 1) to examine the current situation of facilitator competency in learning management for the teachers of Industrial Trades Department in technical colleges, 2) to develop a model of facilitator competency development in learning management for the teachers of Industrial Trades Department in technical colleges, 3) to evaluate the model of facilitator competency development in learning management for the teachers of Industrial Trades Department in technical colleges, 4) to develop a manual regarding how to use the model of facilitator competency development in learning management for the teachers of Industrial Trades Department in technical colleges, and 5) to pilot and evaluate the outcome after using the model of facilitator competency development in learning management for the teachers of Industrial Trades Department in technical colleges. The target group which was examined regarding the current situation was chosen using stratified sampling method. There were 198 teachers of Industrial Trades Department in technical colleges under the Institute of Vocational Education Central Regions 1-5. The target group to develop and evaluate the model consisted of 16 experts and relevant people. The target group to develop the manual consisted of 5 experts who were chosen using purposive sampling method. The target group to pilot and evaluate the outcome was chosen using multi-stage sampling method. There were 20 teachers from Samutsongkhram Technical College and 20 teachers from Photharam Technical College. The tools were 1) a test, an evaluation form and an attitude assessment form, 2) documents related to group conversation, 3) documents to evaluate the feasibility and suitability, 4) a manual evaluation form, and 5) the manual to develop the model. The data were analyzed using mean score, standard deviation, t-test and ANCOVA. The findings showed that 1) the current situation was as follows: (1) in the knowledge component, teachers showed the lowest level of competency, i.e. it is not necessary to understand the nature of learners in order to link and integrate learning, (2) in the skill component, teachers showed a low level of competency, i.e. creative note-taking from learning, (3) in the attitude component, teachers showed a low level of competency, i.e. giving information to other institutes; 2) the model of facilitator competency consisted of 6 components as in (1) understanding and awareness, (2) problem analysis, (3) integration, (4) stimulating learners, (5) observing and note-taking, and (6) reflections; 3) The overall results from the feasibility and suitability evaluation showed that both were at the highest level and, respectively; 4) The overall outcome from the manual develop was that it was at a high level 5) The findings from the experimental group and the control group in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes showed that there was a statistically significant difference in that the average score of the experimental group was higher than the control group in all components. The pilot evaluation results showed that the overall accuracy was at the highest level, the overall usefulness was at the highest level and the overall convenience was at the highest level
