Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to 1) study the short-term ordination requirements of monks in Buddhism, 2) to develop training curriculums, and 3) to study the feasibility of using training curriculums for short-term ordination monks in Buddhism. The research was done in mix methods research methodology including quantitative research method which stratified random sampling 285 monks according to province by proportioning from the monastic order in Sangha Region 13 and qualitative research method from 48 key informants. The curriculum development process was divided into 4 phases including: 1) analysis needs assessment, 2) curriculum development, 3) implementation, and 4) evaluation and study the feasibility of using training curriculums. The collected data was analyzed by percentage, effectiveness index and
effect size.
The research finding were summensed as follows:
1. The needs analysis of short-term ordination monks including: 1) take a leave for ordination for 5-9 days which is equivalent to 19.30%, 2. take a leave for ordination for 10-15 days which is equivalent to 45.61% 3. take a leave for ordination for 16-30 days which is equivalent to 34.74%. The most reasons of short-term ordination was limited of taking leave their rated at 73.33%. The subjects which were necessary to study for short-term ordination monks namely discipline, Dharma, Buddhas biography and pray.
2. The development of training curriculum for short-term ordination monks was divided into
3 levels including: the basic level, ordination between 5-9 days, the medium level, ordination between
10-15 days and the advance level, and ordination between 16-30 days. The comparison for scores of training achievement between pretest and posttest by the effect size (ES) were found that ES = 68.18,
ES = 74.50, ES = 69.43 respectively, this was more than 0.80 the results. The of training effectiveness index pretest and posttest the level 3 training curriculum were found that value E.I = 72.00, E.I = 65.81, E.I 62.10, respectively.
3. The feasibility of using training curriculums to 3 levels concluded that all 3 levels of training curriculums were available due to suitable content, useful and fit with the short time.
