The development of assimilate integrative group counseling based on rational emotive behavior theory to adolescent studentsfriendshipin lower Northern Part of Thailand
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were; 1) to study the factors of students friendship, and 2) to study an integrative group counselling program based on rational emotive behaviour therapy
to students friendship. The samples were adolescent students from the lower Norther of Thailand which divided into two groups. First group was 960 students, They were used for studying study students friendship.
The second group consisted of 20 students, selected from the students who had average friendship scores from low to high and were ramdomly assigned in to experimental group and control group of 10 students each. The experimental group has joined counseling program for 12 times, of 90 minutes for 12 consecutive weeks. The control group did not participate in the program. The instruments were; 1) the students friendship test, developed by the researcher with alpha coefficient reliability at 0.85, and 2) the integrated group counseling with a consistency index of 0.8-1.0.
The results were as follows:
1. The confirmatory factor analysis showed the components of students friendship consisted of 5 factors: acceptance, help, communications, closeness and trust. These factors were congruence with the empirical data of high loading, significantly at .05 levels.
2. The students friendship of the experimental group in the post-test and the follow up was significantly higher than the pre-test at .05 levels.
3. The students friendship of the experimental group in the post-test and the follow up was significantly higher than the control group at the .05 level.
