Abstract:
The purpose of this research is studying the satisfaction of travelers who use the roads
in responsible areas of Surin provincial administration organization. The focus groups are divided
into two groups. The first group, 250 samples, is road users who traveling on 34 roads in
responsible areas of Surin provincial administration organization, and the second one, 250
samples, is the governors of local administration organization who work in the same areas. Each
focus group was interviewed using the questionnaire that was designed for revealing their
attitudes and satisfaction toward 6 dimensions of road and road surface repair and maintenance.
After the questionnaire survey, the usable data was analyzed by descriptive statistical technique
and was compared for investigating attitudinal distinctions between two focus groups. The
finding from people focus group show that repair and maintenance is ranked in low level of
satisfaction and should be improved in order to increase the quality of maintenance. For the
governor focus group, the results show that road safety, public participation, and repair and
maintenance are the factors that should be improved for meet the requirements of this group. For
factor satisfaction comparison between two focus groups, the results show that there are
significant differences in attitudes between two focus groups for every factor except road
safety. In conclusing, the finding show that attitude, satisfaction, and expectation of community on
road maintenance quality are important factors for making people tend to understand and satisfy the
road improvement programs of government agency. Therefore, providing useful information on road
management activity to community as well as improving maintenance technique will be the effective
approach for reducing negative requests from people in community
